Mechanical engineering designEngineering that survives contact with the real world.

Twocan provides mechanical engineering design support for new products, prototypes and existing hardware. We develop concepts into robust 3D CAD, mechanisms, structures, assemblies and technical drawings — with analysis, prototyping and manufacture kept in view throughout.

Start with the problem

Where mechanical engineering adds value

We can support a complete mechanical development package or focus on a defined technical problem within an existing programme.

01

New product architecture

Develop mechanisms, structures, packaging and interfaces from early requirements into credible engineering concepts.

02

Redesign & lightweighting

Improve an existing product or prototype for weight, assembly, stiffness, cost, durability or usability.

03

Detailed CAD & drawings

Take agreed concepts into production-quality geometry, assemblies, tolerances and technical drawings.

04

Engineering overflow

Add responsive mechanical design capacity to an internal R&D or product team without a permanent hire.

Mechanical redesign with a measurable result.

For the Ceilingsurf PoC 3.5 upgrade, Twocan reviewed an existing working prototype and focused engineering effort on the upper structure rather than redesigning the whole machine.

Structural analysis and rapid CAD iteration guided the changes, while drawings, supplier coordination, assembly and physical testing carried the design into hardware.

How we work

A mechanical design process tied to evidence.

We move from requirements to hardware in controlled steps, using the level of analysis and detail appropriate to the maturity of the project.

01

Understand

Requirements, load cases, interfaces, users, constraints, existing geometry and failure points.

02

Develop concepts

Mechanisms, structural layouts, packaging routes, materials and trade-off evaluation.

03

Analyse

Calculations, load paths and FEA where useful to challenge and improve the design.

04

Detail

3D CAD, tolerances, fasteners, interfaces, assemblies and technical drawings.

05

Support build

Supplier queries, prototype manufacture, assembly feedback, test and design iteration.

Not every project needs every stage. We scope around the next useful decision and the evidence needed to make it.

Why Twocan

Mechanical engineering without the hand-off gap.

Good design decisions become much easier to judge once they meet suppliers, parts, tolerances and physical assembly. We keep that feedback loop short.

◎

Engineers who build

Design decisions are informed by the practical realities of prototype manufacture and assembly.

◇

Focused analysis

We use engineering evidence where it changes decisions rather than analysing everything by default.

△

Responsive iteration

When prototype or analysis results call for change, the CAD and design can move quickly with them.

→

Commercial awareness

Weight, cost, assembly, process and supplier considerations are treated as engineering requirements, not afterthoughts.

“We asked Twocan to take it to the next version, and that is what they did. They worked through the mechanical engineering alongside us, iterated quickly when the analysis called for changes, and delivered in time for the demonstration we needed it for.”

Common questions

Useful answers before the first call.

If your project does not fit neatly into one of these questions, that is normal. Early engineering work is often about clarifying the problem before deciding what work package makes sense.

Can you take over an existing CAD design?

Yes. We can review and develop existing CAD, drawings and prototypes rather than starting again, provided the available data gives a sensible basis to work from.

Can you provide only a defined mechanical work package?

Yes. We can support a specific mechanism, structure, redesign, drawing package or engineering problem without taking ownership of the whole product programme.

Do you include calculations and FEA?

Where appropriate. We use calculations and FEA to answer engineering questions and support decisions, and can also scope analysis as a dedicated task.

Can you help with prototype manufacture?

Yes. We can support sourcing, supplier communication, prototype build, assembly and testing so the design is not handed over at the CAD stage.

Can you design for manufacture as well?

Yes. Manufacturing process, tolerances, assembly, cost and supplier feedback can be incorporated as the design matures.

Your next sensible step

Start with what you have.

Send a sketch, photo, CAD model, prototype or a short explanation of the problem. We can talk through where the project is now, what the next useful milestone could be and whether Twocan is the right fit.
