CS Platforms · Ceilingsurf prototype
CS Platforms Ltd already had a working proof of concept for Ceilingsurf, a Smart Mobile Elevated Work Platform designed to improve access at low level. The next challenge was to take it to a more practical version: materially lighter, easier to assemble and ready for an important demonstration.
Twocan delivered the PoC 3.5 mechanical upgrade through a focused 12-week programme completed in June 2026, combining structural analysis, rapid CAD iteration, supplier coordination, assembly, integration and physical testing.
The starting point
CS Platforms had already proved the core concept. The challenge was to make the next version substantially more practical without discarding the value already built into the existing prototype. It was heavy to handle, assembly involved too many steps and a key connection required two people.
Twocan focused the upgrade on the upper structure while leaving the rest of the platform untouched, targeting the areas where mechanical engineering could make the greatest practical difference while protecting the 12-week delivery window.
Review the working proof of concept, practical constraints and the changes needed for the next version.
Use structural analysis and rapid CAD development to guide engineering decisions before committing to the build.
Turn the design into drawings, coordinate suppliers, assemble the prototype and physically test the finished upgrade.
Evidence-led development
Twocan worked with an independent third-party simulation partner to assess the existing structure and establish an engineering baseline for the upgrade.
Rather than treating weight reduction as an isolated exercise, the analysis helped guide where we focused the redesign and informed rapid CAD iteration. When the analysis called for changes, we iterated the design and assessed it again before committing to the physical build.
Twocan then carried those decisions through technical drawings, supplier coordination, assembly, integration and physical testing. This connected the engineering analysis directly to a working prototype rather than leaving it as a desktop exercise.

Use independent structural analysis alongside rapid CAD development to guide and test engineering decisions.
Produce the engineering definition, coordinate suppliers, assemble and integrate the upgrade, then physically test the completed prototype.
Assembly improvement
The updated assembly approach could be completed by one person without tools and was significantly quicker. Clearer connection points and improved ergonomics made the upgraded prototype more practical to handle, transport, assemble and demonstrate.

The result
CS Platforms received the PoC 3.5 upgrade: a materially lighter, easier-to-assemble working prototype developed from its existing proof of concept.
The relevant lifting structure was approximately 64% lighter, while the updated assembly became tool-less, one-person and significantly quicker.
Those improvements made the prototype easier to handle, transport, assemble and demonstrate without requiring Twocan to start again from a blank sheet.
Twocan delivered the mechanical upgrade, build and testing through a 12-week programme completed in June 2026, in time for the demonstration CS Platforms needed it for.

Client testimonial
“We already had a working proof of concept. We asked Twocan to take it to the next version, and that is what they did. They worked through the mechanical engineering alongside us, made the platform materially lighter and quicker to assemble, and iterated quickly when the analysis called for changes. They delivered in time for the demonstration we needed it for. Responsive, pragmatic and genuinely good to work with. We'd happily recommend them.”
Your next sensible step
If you have proved the concept but need to make it lighter, easier to assemble, more practical or ready for its next demonstration, Twocan can help with the mechanical engineering needed to get it there — from analysis and CAD through to suppliers, build and testing.
